Emerald Split Air Conditioning System
Comprising of the Emerald Condenser and the Emerald Evaporator, the new split system has been engineered to use R410A environmentally safe refrigerant. Fully compliant with International green gas standards, the thermodynamic properties of R410A enabled Dometic engineers to increase system efficiency by using fewer amps per capacity.
Submitted for a prestigious 2009 IBEX award for Innovation, the Emerald Condenser Series and Emerald Evaporator Series are based on Dometic's cutting-edge air conditioning technology. In addition, the systems have been designed and refined to maximise performance and durability.
Emerald Condenser Series
The Emerald Condenser Series incorporates an innovative square design for easy installation in tight locations and optimal positioning for any connection configuration. Various mounting options are available to overcome challenging installation requirements.
In addition, the Emerald Condenser features a rust-proof drain pan with 2 large drain connections for improved condensate removal. The sloped base in the pan provides exceptional drainage even when the boat heaves and rolls, for 85% less standing water. For protection against moisture and contaminants that can destroy the compressor, the system includes a built-in liquid line filter dryer. The Emerald Condenser Series is available in 11 capacities from 6,000 to 72,000 BTU.
Dometic Marine Emerald Evaporator Series
The Emerald Evaporator provides reduced size, noise, and amperage. A quality engineered system, the Emerald Evaporator includes an easy-to-rotate, high-velocity blower, rust-free composite drain pan and enhanced condensate drainage in a compact package. Also significantly quieter, the Emerald Evaporator uses a vibration-isolation mounting system to minimise noise. Fully insulated, the high velocity blowers are also quiet and efficient. The Emerald Evaporator Series is available in capacities of 4,000, 6,000, 8,000, 10,000, 12,000, and 16,000 BTU.
The Emerald split system provides both heating and cooling and offers many options for combining multiple condensers and evaporators in a staged multi-zone system. Each condensing unit has its own control that manages the temperature of the area independently of other units.

Portable Breathe Easy™ air purifier to Australian public for the first time - DAME Award Special Mention Product
Dometic Marine, the world leading supplier of marine air conditioning, will introduce the new portable Breathe Easy(TM) Air Purifier to Australian boat owners at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show for the first time. Suitable for boats and yachts of all sizes, the unit provides an easy and cost-effective solution to eliminate unpleasant cabin odours and airborne contaminants onboard such as mould spores, bacteria and fumes.
The compact and lightweight Breathe Easy™ Air Purifier can be installed in any cabin and has been proven to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) by 57% and formaldehyde levels by 41% within a six hour period. The solution uses unique Photocatalytic Nano-Mesh technology to clean and transform airborne contaminants, providing fresher and healthier air onboard. The air purifier is powered by 12V DC or 115V/ 230V via a transformer that is included with the product as standard.
The Breathe Easy™ unit received a Special Mention at the prestigious DAME Awards 2009, which was held during Europe's key marine equipment trade show, METS. The SmartStart™ control for a smooth, reduced-surge air conditioning start up
"The SmartStart™ is a key product for the air conditioning aftermarket and retrofit which can offer boat owners significant cost savings. By reducing startup surge by as much as 65%, the SmartStart(TM) control provides a gentler method of handling a current surge, which can mean the difference between boat owners keeping their existing generator or having to invest in a larger one," comments Doug Curtis, Director of Marketing for Dometic Marine.
The current surge or spike can occur whenever an air conditioning system cycles on, possibly causing flickering lights and tripped circuit breakers. In extreme cases, the current surge can cause the generator output voltage to momentarily reduce or even shut down. When this happens, the air conditioning compressor can stall and fail to start. The damage caused to the compressor over time due to these failed startup attempts can be reduced by using SmartStart™.
The SmartStart™ control is available for aftermarket, retrofit and OEM applications and sold through the Cruisair and Marine Air distribution channels. The compact and lightweight system measures 12.7cm x 7.6cm x 5.1cm and weighs 0.43kg, making it easy to install with virtually any existing marine air conditioning system.
Furthermore the system is available in three voltage/frequency varieties and can be installed directly into the air conditioning system's electrical box. Alternatively the system's drip-proof enclosure enables it to be mounted externally, depending on customer requirements.
