Dometic further enhances the successful proSafe range

iAudit and webREOS via Internet open up a new era. Dometic sets new standards for hotel rooms

Dometic introduces a new generation of ProSafes which sets itself apart from the rest – especially with regard to the “built-in innovations”.

“Right from the start we’ve had a huge success all across the world with our premium range.” As Henner Lambrecht, Dometic’s Product Area Manager Hotel Systems recalls, “the hotel industry simply loved these products and ordered in large numbers, although we are looking at a higher price segment here for quality reasons. We could have leaned back and file the orders as they came in, but at Dometic this posture is not very popular. So we asked ourselves if there was any room for improvement. After an extended round of interviews with our customers, the complete team of safe engineers started anew.”

The design: new colours, soft curves

The new safes showcase themselves with a new colour range and a new outfit to the doors. Lambrecht prizes the work of the Dometic design department which has provided a perfectly symmetrical look of all elements at the front by re-shaping the instruction label to make it even clearer and by designing an anthracite-black keypad label which harmonically complements the colour of the cabinet. “Whoever gets to catch a glimpse of our new safes in reality knows why I’m so enthusiastic here”, Lambrecht continues.

The actual “revolution” takes place inside
Easy service, above all, is the motto. In the unlikely event of a failure, the in-house service crew shall be able to help out without having to call customer service. All components are now mounted to a frame. If required, each element can be exchanged just like that – without any precognition.

Furthermore, power consumption was reduced to a minimum. From now on, the electronic proSafes operate on small, standard 1.5 volt batteries. One detail which will certainly turn out to ensure an additional savings potential in the future.

iAudit and webREOS monitor the safes via the Internet

Dometic introduces a world novelty: the audit trail function and REOS (Remote Emergency Opening System) can now be hosted via the Internet. The handling is further simplified, execution is absolutely up to date and precise, and what’s more, the hotel will save money because a PDA or external printer is no longer required for application readout. A newly-developed microchip with vastly heightened efficiency is now able to store 1,000 apps instead of the usual 64 applications. If required, data readouts of our safes can now be digitally transferred to the Dometic website via a new, patented SD Memory Card.

The applications are immediately documented in the iAudit report which is very helpful for the management (and maintenance crew) in giving them orientation and decision support. Also, webREOS can conduct an emergency opening via a safe Internet connection.

More options than ever before
Since not all hotel managers are looking for high-tech, Dometic will also offer even more choice in the future. The S-class models rely on the proven standard (with master key and master code) without the online support described above, yet they can be upgraded later. As the name implies, the L model range represents the deLuxe models which comes standard with iAudit and webReos.

The former bestseller, the MD 360, now comes in a slim version as MD 361 B (1.5 mm steel walls instead of the usual 2 mm) and in a noble high-tech version as MD 361 P with a silver-white cabinet and blue LEDs, iAudit and webREOS as standard. In meeting the changes in the demands of the “laptop generation”, Dometic introduces the proSafe MD 381 which offers enough space to safely host a notebook with a 17” monitor. Also new is a drawer safe with an overhead keypad (MDT 400).

All in all, the new range offers one mechanical and 13 electronic safes with a total capacity ranging from 8.3 to 29 liters.

It’s the details which make the difference
Hotel managers and their staff enjoy even more options now: the opening angle can be individually determined or adjusted on site, the battery status is disclosed via the keypad, and the standard 4-digit unlocking routine can also be changed to a 6-digit series or even 1 – 6 digits.

All the existing options, such as the integrated socket, door handle, hotel logo decoration etc., are continued. And one can still order these safes with a door hinge on the left or on the right.

‘Made in Europe’ ensures the highest quality standard
All proSafe models are assembled at the Spanish Dometic plant in Girona. Precision laser cutting of the doors and frames, high-grade Motorola electronics and reliable Made in Germany Bühler motors further guarantee high-class workmanship. The compact cabinet features 5-mm steel doors which are locked via micro-gap switch with two massive steel anchors. “Cheap boxes from the Far East are no longer a solution for discerning hosts in the hotel business”, comments Lambrecht, and he adds, “plus they represent a constant risk. If you want to make sure your guests are fully satisfied, you will have to consider perfect products for personal safe deposits as well.”
