1. Which capacity do you need?
We advise you to choose your portable capacity depending on what you are planning to carry and how many people will use it. Not only today, but also tomorrow, since our products are long lasting.
2. What coolness level are you looking for?
Would you like to keep cool food at normal ambient temperature? A thermoelectric box is probably enough.
Would you like to cool and/or keep cool food and drinks at a high ambient temperature? A refrigerator is more appropriate.
Would you like to store frozen and/or cool food? A combi-freezer is the model you need.
3. Where do you plan to use your refrigerator?
If you plan to use your portable in limited spaces, like your car, we advise you to choose one of the smallest sizes.
» A thermoelectric box can be supplied with a battery car (230V or 24V with the appropriate converter or adapter).
» The absorption system offers you more possibilities since it can be supplied with 12V, 24V, 230V and gas.
Dometic cooling technologies
- Absorption technology. Most Dometic refrigerators and freezers are based on the absorption technology. Apart from requiring very little maintenance and working silently, this original system can work on the mains, on battery and on gas (butane or propane – standard cartridge). Since there is no moving part, the products show a long life expectancy and are vibration free. Top cool performance even during the hottest summer day. All portable refrigerators/freezers are able to make ice cubes even at a 32°C ambient temperature.

- The thermoelectric process. The Dometic cool boxes work on the thermoelectric process, also called Peltier process. This system works on the battery car (12V) but can also be used on the mains or on 24V with the appropriate converter or adapter. They are designed to maintain cool food at normal ambient temperature. The thermoelectric boxes are the perfect solution for occasional use on board.
