Absorption technology
Most Dometic refrigerators and freezers are based on the absorption technology. Apart from requiring very little maintenance and working silently, this original system can work on the mains, on battery and on gas (butane or propane – standard cartridge). Since there is no moving part, the products show a long life expectancy and are vibration free. In addition, the absorption technology shows top cool performance even during the hottest summer day. All portable refrigerators/freezers are able to make ice cubes even at a 32°C ambient temperature.

The thermoelectric process
The Dometic cool boxes work on the thermoelectric process, also called Peltier process. This system works on the battery car (12V) but can also be used on the mains or on 24V with the appropriate converter or adapter. They are designed to maintain cool food at normal ambient temperature. The thermoelectric boxes are the perfect solution for occasional use on board.
Compressor technology
Compressor cooling appliances work with a CFC-free refrigerant that changes from liquid to gas as it flows through the evaporator. In the process the evaporator extracts heat from the refrigeration compartment – it’s getting cold. The compressor draws in the gaseous refrigerant, compresses it and passes it on to the condenser. Here, the absorbed heat is released to the atmosphere. The refrigerant changes to the original liquid state and flows back to the evaporator, where the cycle starts again.
