Environmental Management System

Policy
Dometic’s long term goal is that all factories with more than 20 employees should be certified in accordance with the ISO14001 standard. In the mean time, all factories should at least implement an internal environmental management program (minimum environmental requirements, MER).

MER
Minimum Environmental Requirements:

  • Appoint an environmental coordinator responsible for environmental issues at the facility and implementing the group environmental program.
  • Conduct an internal initial review and environmental assessment of the factory.
  • Complete the Operation & Environment Report and set targets for environmental improvements each year
  • Identify and measure the environmental impact of the products and set targets for environmental improvements each year.

Status
The work has already started at the European factories. By the end of 2006, eight out of twelve European factories were certified in accordance with ISO14001 and another factory is under way.  One of these factories is also EMAS registered (EU’s voluntary environmental certification).
Due to differences in customer demands, public awareness and national traditions and legislation the EMS work in US is only in its beginning.
