Offered in 13,500 or 15,000 BTU, the air conditioners are designed for energy-efficient operations in harsh and unusual road and weather conditions. They are shock- and vibration-resistant and lightweight, starting at only 91 lbs., and use the new R-410A “green” refrigerant, which absorbs and releases heat more efficiently.
“We put these air conditioners through a great deal of testing to ensure they’ll stand up to rigorous use,” said Brad Sargent, vice president of marketing. “Under extreme vibration testing, many other units break down after only four hours of use, but these new Dometic models were still going strong at 30 hours and more.”
Commercial-grade components of the air conditioners include galvanized steel top plates, powder-coated base pans with high lips and 15 percent increased thickness over other models, L-shaped brackets tying the motor, compressor and evaporator together for vibration-free operation, and dual rubber bushings at the top and bottom to control noise and vibration.
