Patent for Truck Sleeper

Dometic is awarded patent for truck sleeper air conditioning systems

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – January 29, 2007 – Dometic Environmental Corporation today announced that it has received a U.S. patent (No. 7,171,822) covering its auxiliary air conditioning systems for truck sleepers.

The patent covers Dometic’s “split system” design, which consists of a condensing unit mounted outside the truck and an evaporator/compressor/blower unit installed inside the vehicle, with quick-connect refrigerant linesets. The two units are both factory-precharged with refrigerant fluid, so that the entire system is automatically charged to the correct pressure when the linesets are connected.

“Our patented design, with precharged components and quick-connect linesets, provides for easy installation without the need for specialized EPA-approved tools for handling refrigerant,” said Lou Siegel, senior vice president, marketing and strategic business development for Dometic Environmental. “Our advanced engineering is one reason Dometic is rapidly becoming the HVAC supplier-of-choice for system integrators and manufacturers of auxiliary power units.”

“We are well positioned to meet the expected significant surge in sales of auxiliary air conditioning systems in 2007 to meet the growing demand for idle reduction in the trucking industry,” said Siegel.
