Have Fridge, Will Travel

A lack of time can be an obstacle when you’re pursuing offroad adventure. For avid hunter and fisherman Andrew Miller, that means being spontaneous – and having the gear to get out of town in a minute’s notice.

“We use a Dometic CFX because it’s a no-hassle solution to one of my least favorite logistical problems when overlanding,” says Andrew. “We just don’t worry about food anymore.”

Based in Denver, Andrew and his wife love to spend time outside with his dog, hiking, skiing, or driving backroads. “Having the ability to cook fresh food on the road is a huge advantage,” he says. “Our fridge allows us to bring along things we’d leave behind if we were constantly having to refresh ice in a cooler.”

The couple have been fortunate to travel extensively all over the world, but this year they’re looking local. “We’re really excited to explore more of our own backyard this summer,” says Andrew. “Colorado has some amazing forest service road systems that you can wander for days at a time.”

Since adding the Dometic CFX to their overlanding setup, they’ve been able to tackle those trails more frequently. “The fridge eliminates the need to babysit ice,” says Andrew. “It allows us to focus on the fun part of adventuring and not worry if our beer will be cold the next day.”

“If you’ve never had chocolate milk for breakfast in the backcountry,” he adds, “you’re not really living.”
