Can not live without it
I received my CfX40 in October 2018 to replace another well known brand that I did not care for as much. Since October I have never removed it from my vehicle. I use it for all kinds of things, like lunch for work, cold drinks for the kids, Gatorade after practices, and camping with a family of 4. I never thought I would would need one until I got one now I can't go without it. The CFX is a very well built fridge and it is a perfect fit in my jeep and Toyota 4runner. The blue tooth option because the motor is so quiet I never think it is on. My hat is off to dometic for making the (IMO) best 12v fridge on the market.

It fits in a 5th Gen 4Runner!!! STOKED!!!
I wanted a fridge to replace my Yeti 65, and I also wanted something that would fit well in the back of our 4runner for multiple day trips. A dual zone was a must (I need my ice cream in the summer) and having the back seats up so we can still have our little dudes car seat was a box that needed to be checked off. In comes the CFX75DZW. This thing is awesome!! It works great for my solo trips as well as our 3-4 day workshops. I usually over pack on food, but I'd rather do that then not have enough. Plus if you're using one side for a freezer, having the other side available for everything is else is ideal. All in all, it works for us!

Great with one caveat
We've been on the road with this from everywhere from the blazing desert to the cold rainy PNW. We love it when it works however I feel as though Dometic either over-engineered what could be a great fridge/freezer or missed one big glaring exception.
We have a lithium ion battery system, which runs at a lower voltage than lead acid. While this unit is generally miserly on its power consumption it automatically shuts off when we still have plenty of power left in our lithium power bank, even on the low battery protection setting. I called up the service number and they were of no help and even went so far as to say they've never encountered this issue while reviews for other Dometic units and the rest of the internet are littered with the same issues/questions.
It would have been great if Dometic would have had the foresight to design in an option to either shut the battery monitor feature off or have a setting for Lithium. Too bad the only viable alternatives on the market in this style have the same battery protection system built in.

Centerpiece of camper
I got the to go deep back country. Went for 4 weeks. This thing is great had everything frozen to start. After 2 weeks turned one side to fridge and was flawless operating. The is the centerpiece of my camping gear. I am using a Jeep as a camper working well.

Impressive Cooler - Test Results
GENERAL OBSERVATIONS
Extremely Quiet – I was blown away with how quiet the compressor was.
Super Efficient – I was impressed with the compressor efficiency and how long it ran on a motorcycle battery.
Quality of Construction – Great
Precision – performed exactly as the specs state
TESTING the CFX 40W --- Conditions:
Battery: 18 amp-hour Jet Ski / Motorcycle battery (just fully charged)
Ambient temperature: ~75F
Internal Temp Selected: 32F
Temperature Delta: 43F
Setting: Medium
Sun / Shade: In the Shade
In the test I chose to go with it empty and at ambient temperature rather than pre-chilling and putting a bunch of frozen food in it that would have reduced the power consumption. I monitored the battery voltage throughout it running. The temperature dropped fairly quickly down to 32F and when it read 32F I quickly opened it up to compare the temperature on the unit to the small thermometer I placed in it before starting the test. They matched within a degree or two. I then shut the lid and didn’t open it again throughout the rest of the test. The unit ran for 11.5 hours before the battery voltage reached the "Medium" cut-off point listed in the specifications and properly shut the unit off. I was happy that it shut off exactly when it was supposed to. For those that don’t know, the CFX 40W monitors the battery’s voltage and will not let your battery’s voltage drop below what would be required to start your vehicle (So you never end up stranded, with a dead battery.). There are three cut-off settings you can set for this, "Low", "Medium", "High". With the "Low" allowing the battery to be the most discharged before the cooler shuts off. There is also an option to turn it "Off" which will allow the cooler to keep running until the battery is completely dead. You would only want to choose this if you were using an extra battery and did not need to use the battery to start something like a vehicle. During the 11.5 hours that the cooler ran the temperature display said the internal temperature fluctuated between 28F and 34F as the compressor turned on and off to keep it cool. The battery that I used was a small 18 amp-hours battery and most car batteries are about 45 amp-hours so on the "Medium" setting a standard car battery may have lasted about 1.5 days, and on "Low" perhaps two days.
A couple of other thoughts effecting the results.
• If I were actually using the cooler, rather than testing it, I would have plugged it in to the wall and brought the internal temp down to 32F rather than using battery power to cool it down. That would have extended the life of the battery.
• If I were actually using the cooler, rather than testing it, it would have been full of pre-frozen food which would have extended the life of the battery. Note: If you put unfrozen food in and expect the cooler to freeze the food it will shorten the life of the battery.
• The difference between the internal temp of 32F and outside air temp of ~75F was only 43F, which for Texas isn’t standard. Had the outside temp been 90F rather than 75F the temperature delta would have been 58F and it would have shortened the life of the battery.
• I only opened the cooler one time for about 2 seconds to remove my test thermometer. If the cooler was opened more times and for longer the battery life would have been shortened.
• If the cooler were left in the sun rather than the shade the battery life would have been shortened.
• I also purchased the CFX IC40 insulated cover but didn’t use it in the test. Had I used it in the test the battery life would have been longer. The cover would have been extremely helpful in hotter weather and in direct sunlight.
Note to Dometic: Prior to purchasing this I would have been far happier if you had provided a quality video that included how the lid is opened, showed the internal sizes (depth, width, etc.) and standard U.S. grocery items that can be placed in it, showed the drain plug, bottom, all sides, and lid rubber piece and explanation for it. You have a super high quality product but your video showing all the features is sub-par. I bought this thinking there was a possibility of having to return it and I almost didn’t buy it because of all the questions your video didn’t answer. You will sell far more if you actually produce a quality video since it takes a lot of trust to drop nearly $1K on something with a low quality video of its full features and design.

This cooler changed how I camp and tailgate!
I under estimated how much I would enjoy not having to buy ice. This cooler has been great for camping and also tailgating this fall. My wife has also been using it to keep her grocies cold when she goes to the store.

Awesome unit
Only had the CFX50 a short time, take the time to read the use manual, power coservation is awesome will run all day at 90 degree plus weather on my spare group 35 battery, quite and maintaines set temp, have to get use to buying cans instead of bottles for my favorite drink (cans stack better), plenty of space for a weekend of food, construction is very good, well built and placed handles, control panel is easy to use and see, consider the ARB but glad I chose the Dometic, have had motorhomes with Dometic great unit.

Much needed upgrade!
I acquired a CFX 28 after many years of dealing with coolers and all their shortcomings. I honestly don't know how I lived without one of these for so long. Instead of fighting with ice and soggy food I can carry multiple days worth of meals with me and know it will remain fresh and unspoiled. It's a real treat being able to cook a meal instead of eating yet another bag of freeze dried goodness. The 28 fits perfectly in the hatch area of my Subaru Outback and it's light enough to remove when I don't need it. At this point I'll never go back to cooler again!

I am debating between two coolers, the cfx 50 or the 65. For a family of four, how many days worth of food would each of these hold?
Hello Lnmyer - We recommend our CFX-65 to feed a family of four for most long weekends. For longer trips, we recommend preparing some of the food ahead of time to save space.

The cfx35w manual states the ambient temperature range for operation is 61F - 109F. What happens if I leave the unit in my vehicle operating day to day and ambient goes below 61F but the unit needs to run to maintain setpoint?

The ambient temperature data is only a recommendation and your fridge will still function if the temperature reached below 61 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the cooler will need to work harder in temperatures above 109 degrees Fahrenheit, and you may find it drawing more power to keep cold.

Can I run the CFX 28 directly off of a 100 watt solar panel?
Hi RonG- When running a CFX off grid you need to use a battery and solar panel. A CFX will not run directly from a solar panel. For best results we recommend using a minimum of 40Ah battery and 100W solar panel.

Can the cooler run half off, half on, how does that affect the power consumption when on battery? How long will this unit hold temperature (90 ambient) with the unit turned off completely? How much do power does the unit consume both on freezer?

1. Turning compartments off:
For our dual zones, the CFX75DZW and CFX95DZW, you can shut off one side to save energy or use it as a dry storage or pantry area. This will reduce the average energy consumption by roughly half vs running both compartments.
The easiest way to do this is through the Dometic CFX app available on iOS or Android. You can also do this manually with the following steps:
With the CFX turned on, press SET until the temperature flashes on the compartment you want to turn off. Once the temperature is flashing, press the power button. Display will say OFF. To turn the compartment back on, repeat the previous steps.
2. How long will the internal temperature last when off?
In our testing we find that the "stuff" in your cooler warms up at approximately 1 degree Fahrenheit per hour, when the CFX is turned off. The more cold stuff you have in your CFX, the slower it will warm up when shut off.
3. What is the power consumption of the CFX95DZW with both compartments set to freeze?
At an ambient temperature of 90F here are the average energy consumption values:
Both compartments to freeze (0F): 5Ah/h
One side freeze (0F) and one side fridge (41F): 3.6Ah/h
Both sides fridge (41F): 1.3Ah/h

How long will the cooler hold tempature without power?
Hi- From our internal testing the "stuff" inside your CFX will warm up at approximately 1 degree Fahrenheit per hour, when the cooler is off. This was tested at 68F ambient temperature, compartment temperature of 38F, with 24 cans of soda inside. Additionally the lid was left closed.
Remember- opening the lid frequently, a higher ambient temperature, and less "stuff" inside the CFX will cause the items to warm up faster.
