In our daily operations we put a lot of focus on the processes that have an impact on the environment, people and products.
For Dometic, sustainability is embedded into the core of our product development and production, e.g. through control and follow-up systems for the entire chain from supplier to the end-customer.
It is key for us that our sustainability work leads to constant improvements, but also that the improvements are evident to our customers when it comes to weight or energy efficiency improvements. To measure our sustainability work and to challenge ourselves with relevant targets, we collect operational data and work with Sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in all our production sites. We measure: Waste, Water Consumption and Energy Consumption.
Based on our reporting we work systematically with waste management and with efforts for reducing water and energy consumption. In doing so, our environmental impact is decreased at the same time as costs are cut.
In 2013 Dometic started an Energy Savings Program with a 2016 target to reduce energy consumption across our operations by 15% compared to 2012 consumption levels. By thoroughly tracking our positive progress and by understanding that I tis the many good initiatives that together makes a difference, we are energized for saving energy. By the end of 2015 Dometic had reduced its energy consumption by 15,4% compared to 2014.
Dometic has an environmental Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator at all productions sites, who is responsible for working with these issues and for reporting related to country-specific and/or international regulations e.g., fire protection, waste disposal, transport of dangerous goods, waste-water discharge and air emissions. Using a reporting tool that is G4 certified by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) organization, we are able to collect operational data on a global level that allow for comparison between entities as well as sharing of information for best practices.
