On the Move

TO A SMALLER FOOTPRINT

Dometic on the Move - sustainability icon environment

We use materials and precious resources responsibly, improve waste management and lower emissions

Reduced environmental impact is a key priority to achieve a long-term, sustainable business model. Important areas include reduced energy consumption in production, lower emissions of CO2 from production and transportation, responsible use of raw materials and water, recycling of waste in production, as well as increased energy efficiency throughout the life cycle of each product. Dometic’s production units have set local targets to improve their environmental performance based on their production profile and improvement potential.

CLIMATE ROADMAP

Dometic aims to reduce the carbon footprint of mobile living. Energy efficiency in production and the product use phase have long been key environmental targets that contribute to reducing the climate impact. In addition, Dometic aims to increase the share of energy from renewable sources over the next few years.

Dometic aims to halve CO2 emissions each decade in line with the 1,5C climate target. For 2030 the goal is to reduce CO2 emissions from operations (scope 1 and 2) by 50% in relation to net sales.

ENERGY CONSUMPTION

Improved energy efficiency is one of the cornerstones and key challenges for Dometic. For years the Group has worked proactively with energy-saving programs aimed at reducing energy consumption at all facilities.

MATERIAL USE AND WASTE

The main materials used in Dometic products are plastics, steel, aluminium and copper. To minimize the use of resources, the ambition is to increase the use of recycled materials, along with enhanced reparability and recyclability in future product generations. Currently, the use of recycled materials in Dometic products, apart from recycled metals and cardboard, is focused on recycled plastics on a low scale.

CHEMICALS

Dometic complies with applicable chemicals legislation, including REACH and RoHS, with the aim of phasing out CMR chemicals. Key issues also include responsible end-of-life handling of cooling agents. Dometic has developed an end-of-life technology for emptying cooling units in absorption refrigerators. This technology is also used in Dometic’s production units worldwide.
