Yes, this can be done using a Dometic MPS35 or EPS100 inverter.
This is usually caused by insufficient energy supply. Check your battery as well as the cable thickness and length.
Not directly. A solar panel that is connected to the battery must supply so much power that the battery can be loaded without restriction.
Dometic has service dealers throughout Europe who can help you with all sorts of questions and problems. As language can often be a barrier, we recommend you make contact via the camping site's reception desk. They can speak the local language and can contact one of our service dealers for you.
Be sure to keep the following details to hand, so that the service dealer can help you properly:
You can find our service dealers in the Dealer Locator.
Check that the door closes properly. You can easily test this yourself by placing a torch in the refrigerator. If you see a light slit along the edge of the door opening, then the door must be closed properly or newly hung.
Perhaps the thermostat is set higher than necessary. Or food with a high degree of saturation has been placed in the refrigerator, forming condensation on the evaporator. We recommend defrosting the refrigerator and drying it properly. Afterwards, bear in mind these possible causes.
That depends entirely on the capacity of your battery, the ambient temperature, and the temperature setting of your refrigerator. With a full 110 Ah battery, this could be 2 to 3 days.
As soon as your Dometic refrigerator's refrigeration unit leaks, you will also notice a strong ammonia odour. Open the windows to remove the odour from your camper/caravan.However, the refrigeration unit cannot be renewed, but will have to be replaced by the dealer.
If you want to be certain, we would advise you to buy a small compressor cooler, as these also actually achieve the set temperature regardless of the ambient temperature and, more importantly, retain it. Absorption coolers and thermoelectric coolers depend for their cooling capacity on the ambient temperature and so are less reliable.
A 60 Watt or more solar panel is sufficient. This does depend on the solar panel's power output (depending on the weather conditions) and the use of the refrigerator and other connected devices.
That's right. In the interests of safety, it takes about 20 minutes before the refrigerator switches from 12 Volts to gas.
AES stands for the automatic selection of the most efficient energy source. This can be 12 Volts, gas or 230 Volts.
MES stands for manual energy source selection
ATTENTION: only connect the refrigerator to 12 Volts if the (towing) vehicle's engine is running, otherwise the battery will be quickly go flat or you may have undervoltage.
Dometic has different types of absorption refrigerators in its range. The models from the RF and RGE series are suitable for free-standing use.
The models from the RM series are all built-in models that are designed for use in campers and caravans.
Another possibility is to install a compressor refrigerator together with solar panels.
